Stops and targets are set in price units, but risk is felt in money. The pip value is the exchange rate between the two — and until you know it, a "20-pip stop" is a distance without a cost.
This calculator converts lot size and per-lot pip value into the cash value of a move, so you can sanity-check any trade plan in seconds.

For most USD-quoted pairs a pip is worth about $10 per standard lot; for JPY pairs and metals it differs. Your platform's contract specification has the exact figure.
How it works
Value of one pip = lot size × pip value per 1.0 lot.
Value of a move = value of one pip × number of pips.
Rule of thumb: on USD-quoted major pairs, one pip is about $10 per standard lot, $1 per mini lot (0.10), and $0.10 per micro lot (0.01).
Common questions
What is the difference between a pip and a point?
A pip is the conventional fourth decimal (0.0001) on most pairs, second decimal on JPY pairs. A point is the smallest increment your platform quotes — often one tenth of a pip. Mixing them up changes calculations by a factor of ten, so always check which one a robot or broker means.
How do I find the pip value for my exact pair and account currency?
Your platform's contract specification lists tick size and tick value per lot. When your account currency differs from the pair's quote currency, the value floats with that exchange rate — platforms show the live figure.
Does spread affect pip value?
No — spread affects how many pips a trade must travel before it breaks even, not what each pip is worth. They interact in your results, but they are separate numbers.
